Nyamyumba After The Rains

I took this picture when I was out in the field monitoring Rwandan repatriates. It overlooks Nyamyumba, just south of Gisenyi town, and Lake Kivu. I'm convinced that no camera can truly capture the beauty of this country.

It was so slick on the hilly dirt roads that our Land Cruiser nearly slipped off the road and down the hill into a field of banana trees! The view was simply gorgeous, though.

Morgan,
I agree with you on the beauty of Rwanda not being captured on film. I have lots of pictures of when I was there just a few weeks ago and they just don't express the beauty. I am so excited about your blog. I just found it today. It's great. I have my list of Kinyarwanda and I am so glad that I can learn more through you. I plan on returning to Rwanda but just don't know when.
Sincerely, Kim

Kim, thanks for the nice words! Were you here for tourism? (If so, good for you...this country needs it!)

Cheers, Morgan
